Excellent - But NOT fool proof

I have been using these for about 8 years now and moved to the 3 stage when they came out. I use them primarily for drinking water and cooking. They typically last about 3 months for me. I go through a LOT of drinking water and probably less than average for cooking.
Based on using them on two different water systems, I also believe the quality of the water going in makes a huge difference in the life of the filter... but then that really is just common sense isn't it? For instance, using it the week after a city wide fire hydrant flushing will use one up very quickly. I can't speak to what that means to anyone else, but it tells me it is WORKING!
As another reviewer mentioned... ONE HOT WATER EPISODE WILL KILL A FILTER! It is a shame it is this way, but I have on two occasions had someone turn on hot water and let it run through the filter for a while. The filter would stop flowing within a day after that. The instructions warn against this, but accidents happen.
On the other hand, I had one that would not flow at all right out of the box. I called the 800 number on the box, told them what happened and that I had put in a different filter, which worked, and then tried this one again... showing that I had done my due diligence, and I had a replacement in the mail within a week, no cost, without having to return the failed one.
Also, if you buy the 6 pack, they are under $10 each.
It absolutely DOES make the water taste and smell better than plain tap water.

| These have worked well for me. I have noticed, however, if I am not careful to point out to my friends or housemates not to run warm or hot water through them, that it significantly shortens the filters lifespan. Warm or hot water breaks down the charcoal or something. |
Great tasting water

| Don't let the price scare you away (it's actually a good deal). My local water has a displeasing taste/smell & this filter takes that water & turns it into .. well .. great tasting water. This filter will work on any of PUR's faucet mounts. |

| I looked around at several sites and Amazon had the best price on these replacement filters. We really like our Pur filter. It is a good alternative to constantly buying bottled water, especially for making baby formula. |
Pricey, but effective filter

| The 3-stage filter is quite effective, if the documentation with the filter is correct. It installs relatively easy. My only concern is it lasts less than a month at our house (2 adults), so its use becomes a bit expensive at $19 or so per unit. |
Expensive but effective

Don't know why the individual filter is 1/2 the price of the faucet unit and two filters at costco (and sometimes costco has $10 coupons which make their package even cheaper than this one).
From the taste, it does a good job though and is cheaper and more convenient than either water delivery or buying bottled water from the store. |
Love it! Cheaper than bottled

Fantastic filters, but faucet mounts leave something to be desired

I'm a big fan of these filters. I live in an agricultural town that uses well water with questionable quality: high mineral content, sulphur odor, and the possibility of agricultural pollution. These filters made a drastic difference in the clarity and taste of the water.
Is agricultural waste really contaminating my water and does this this filter remove it? I haven't had the water tested, thus I don't know for sure. There are also mixed opinions about town as to whether bad water is a problem. However, letting my taste buds judge, I'll guess this makes a difference in removing pollutants that I can and cannot taste. These are relatively low-cost filters when purchasing in bulk.
The faucet mount for these filters is a different matter altogether, and I think it is a shame they are not built to the same quality standards as the filters they hold. |
Great price from Amazon

| Got these on Amazon for around 20% less then what I could get them for locally. For my wife and I these seem to last around 6 weeks. |

Before you purchase water filters of any Brand any type !
be sure it can do what a PUR can do.
PUR filters out Gasoline ! Lead ! Many more harmful things better than other brands and best of all it helps prevent Cysts caused by certain bacterias. |
Economy!

Better than the filter I got with the actual faucet mount.
I Highly recommend it. It costs less at Amazon than at the local store and I think it is working better. I get a faster stream of water and this is is 3 stage - So you can't go wrong with this ! |
Great Value!

We originally purchased our Pur water filter on Amazon but upon installation it was defective. Contacted the manufacturer and it was promptly replaced with a coupon to re buy.
When it came time to replace the filter it did not take an economic genius to calculate the cost as one would have cost $15.00 but purchasing the 6 pack the price is less than $9.00 apiece which is a substantial savings, especially if you are retired and on a fixed income, or if you have monies to waste you then can purchase the filter individually. |

| They work just like I the original one that came with the filter. This is not too much of a surprise as they are the exact same thing. This was the cheapest price I could find, and hopefully, that you could find too. Cheers. |

| Great product, have used this format for 2 years. Reduces sediment taste as well as advertised water contents. Makes coffee taste 100 % better. Amazon beats Sam's prices on bulk purchase. Walmart's price for one filter is over $15.00. |

Pur delivers pure water

| I have been using various Pur water filter products for about a decade and have always been pleased with the results, and now with the 6 pack on Amazon, my price has been cut in half! The water in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is generally good campared to many other communities, but what spurred me to use filters was what happens after the water leaves the treatment plant. A friend of mine works for the water-sewer department here. After his first week he went out and bought water filters once he saw what was in the pipes leading to the homes. A dirty little secret the treatment plants do not tell you is the number a leaks in the system allowing for ground water seepage, especially after a heavy rain. I can see it in my bath water. Because of this I am saving up to put a whole house filter on my intake pipe since our skin absorbs alot from showering and bathing. I will still use my faucet filters since I never waste money on dirty bottled water, I refill my own bottles, at a considerable discount of about 90%, and take them to work with me. Also, I water my most delicate indoor plants with filtered water and they seem to be healthier for it. The Pur 3 stage filter is definitely a bargain at these prices and well worth it considering the results. |

| I bought the PUR filters online because the price can't be beat. They cost at least $17 each in regular grocery or box stores. Online I got them for half that. Great product, great deal. |
